Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I need/want this service?
You may be a good candidate for a hand rejuvenation if you have significant laxity or saggy skin in your hands and arms and desire a smoother, more streamlined appearance. Or if you have unwanted dark spots and hollowing on the back of your hands. Candidates should be physically healthy, maintain a stable weight, and should not smoke.
What to expect if I get this done?
The results of a hand rejuvenation surgery will be almost immediately apparent, as you will have smoother, tighter contours in the hands and arms. Swelling and bruising will initially be present, but will subside to reveal your final results. You might have a scar where the incision was made, but this should fade to become less noticeable over time.
What should I expect before my procedure?
A consultation with one of our surgeons will be the best way to determine if you are a candidate for hand and arm rejuvenation, and what steps you will need to take prior to your procedure. You will get to review before and after pictures of other patients with similar body types to get an idea of what your result may look like. Depending upon your treatment plan, you may have filler injections, laser resurfacing, fat transfers, sclerotherapy, or skin lift procedures, and you may have local or general anesthesia. Procedures are short, typically only taking an hour as outpatient day surgery.
What should I expect after my surgery?
Your arms will be covered in dressings or bandages and may also be wrapped in an elastic bandage or compression garment to minimize swelling. A slim tube may be placed under the skin to provide drainage temporarily. You will receive instructions to follow at home and prescriptions for medication, and schedule a follow-up appointment with your surgeon. You should expect to keep your support garments on per your surgeon’s instruction, and limit activity. You should be ready to return to some activities within two weeks, and all normal activities within six weeks. Be sure to follow your surgeon’s instructions carefully.
Will I have scars following a hand rejuvenation?
You will have small scars where any incisions were made. However, in healthy patients, these scars should gradually fade over time. It’s important to follow your doctor’s instructions to have the best results as you heal.
