MyChart - Your health in your hands

See all your upcoming and past appointments in MyChart. You can change or cancel upcoming appointments on the appointments tab. You can view the details and visit summaries of past appointments. MyChart also allows you to schedule a new appointment with your doctor.

Need to make an appointment with a new doctor, or for someone new to UTMB? Use the find a doctor page to search by specialty or doctor name and schedule directly from the online portal.

MyChart allows you to check into your upcoming appointment from your phone or computer. This will save time and minimize contact at the front desk during your visit. Our goal is to create a convenient, efficient and safe experience for our patients.

PreCheck-In functionality allows you to use MyChart to go through steps like verifying your address and contact information, insurance coverage, allergies, and medications. You can also pay your office visit copay through PreCheck-In as well as read and sign any required documents. Additionally, this feature allows you to complete questionnaires for your visit prior to your arrival.

Patient Instruction Manual

Use the MyChart Message Center to send and receive messages to and from your provider's office. These messages are monitored by nurses during regular business hours and allow you to avoid hold times on the phone for non-urgent issues. They also allow greater privacy because you can write from your home, office, or on your smart phone with the mobile app, anytime from anywhere.

The Message Center is very much like sending and receiving email, except it is all done in a private, secure environment, within your medical record. Messages you send may route first to your provider's nurse. Please allow 2 business days for a response, although often times you will hear back much sooner! In the event of a UTMB observed holiday, the response time may be extended.

Remember, you are actually communicating within your own medical record, which is a legal document. Please only communicate about your clinical needs, and use complete, clearly written and brief messages so your care team can easily understand and assist. No abbreviated 'TEXTING' type messages please, as these can be '2 hrd 2 ndrstnd!'

New Message Center with Conversation-Based Messaging

MyChart has redesigned how it organizes your messages. Now all messages appear in a threaded view so you can easily follow the history of a conversation. You can also search and bookmark messages to make it simple to find a specific topic or conversation

MyChart makes managing your medications easier. A list of all prescribed medications is viewable as part of your medical record. Send a message to your clinic team if you have a prescribed medication you would like renewed. Remember to always contact your pharmacy FIRST, to see if you have medication refills remaining. If the provider approves the renewal of the medication, the clinic team will send the new prescription to your preferred pharmacy.

Please allow two business days for the renewal request to be processed. In the event of a UTMB-observed holiday, the response time may be extended. Please don't wait until you are completely out of your medication to request a new prescription.

Lab results, imaging studies and pathology reports all release to MyChart. All outpatient lab results release automatically within 24 hours of being sent to your provider. Inpatient results release within 36 hours of being sent to your provider. Patients receive their results quickly because we know they are anxious to see them, but there may be times the patient will see the result before the provider has had the opportunity to review them. Please allow the provider time to review the results and send a comment.

Your provider will be notified of any critical lab values and will notify you immediately.

Imaging studies and pathology reports release to the patient four days after being sent to the provider. This allows the provider more time to review the results and perhaps schedule time with the patient for a conversation in person.

Patients can chart and graph numerical test results to track their health improvement. Select a result and click on "View Historical Results." You can display your results as a chart, chart by date, or line and bar graph.

There are some tests which are not available in the Epic medical record system so these results cannot be released in MyChart. For any of the results below, send a secure message requesting a paper copy of your results be mailed.

Test Results Daily Digest

Receiving too many emails about test results? You can now opt into receiving a single daily notification when you have test results available. You can select this option under the “Communication Preferences” menu in MyChart.

Update your insurance information online through MyChart. You can make changes to your insurance provider, plan number, guarantor and more.

Paying your balance is easy with MyChart. You will see your previous balances, amount due, and billing statements from services received at UTMB. You can also pay your co-pay for upcoming appointments online using PreCheck-In.

In any proxy relationship, two people are involved. One of these is the person whose chart is being accessed. This person is called the subject. The other is the person who needs access to the chart. This person is called the delegate.

If you want access to a minor's account:

• First, access your own MyChart account. Once logged into your own MyChart account, hover over the Preferences tab and click on the Request Minor Access link.
• Please sign up for a MyChart account if you do not have one, then proceed with the above steps. We will get back to you within 2 business days of your submission.

If you want access to an adult's account:

• The subject should access their own MyChart account. Once logged into their own MyChart account, they can hover over the Preferences tab and click on the Grant Adult Access link.
• If the subject does not have their own MyChart account, they may sign up for a MyChart account.

• Please request access to a UTMB patient's account.

Patients of providers that use Epic software are able to connect third-party applications (apps) to retrieve parts of their health record for their own personal use. Examples of data that can be pulled into an app include lab results, allergies, medications, and immunization history.

In order to authenticate an app to retrieve your health data, follow these steps on How to allow a third-party app to access your health record.

MyChart can identify preventative health services that you may need based on your age, gender and medical history.

The To Do section of MyChart provides health reminders for preventative cancer screenings like mammograms and colonoscopies. MyChart will remind you of your upcoming annual Flu vaccine and highlight other vaccinations you may need.

Send Visit Summary

If you are referred to a specialist and select a provider outside of UTMB, you can send an electronic summary of your visit from MyChart! From the Appointments menu, select a Past Visit and click the envelope icon. Enter the non-UTMB provider's information and route the visit summary via a secure electronic address. It is not necessary to route information to UTMB providers who already have access to your electronic health record.

Share Everywhere

Share Everywhere provides a way for patients to share their medical information with the people who are taking care of them, even if a care provider doesn’t have access to MyChart. Learn more about Share Everywhere.

You can view and edit your health history through MyChart. The Health Summary shows you your current health issues, medications, allergies, and immunizations. From the Health Summary, you can add and remove current health issues, add medications and request refills, add and remove allergies, and view your immunization record and upcoming preventative care.

Your Medical History shows an overview of your medical history on file with UTMB. This section includes information like medical, surgical, family, and social history.

The myChart Patient Estimate is an online tool to assist patients with an estimate based on their insurance and benefit plan. This enables the patient to create an estimate without having to call RCO and satisfies the requirement for displaying 300 shoppable services for the price transparency rule.
