UTMB Health is committed to investing in our relationships with community physicians to provide quality care for patients. We have use an important tool called "UTMB CareLink" that offers you a new level of access to timely information about your patients.

UTMB CareLink, a web-based application, gives you, as a referring physician, a safe and secure way to access your patient’s information contained within UTMB Health’s electronic medical record system (EMR). From lab and radiology results to care notes and discharge summaries, UTMB CareLink puts your patient’s information at your fingertips. As a referring physician, you will be able to access information for only those patients with whom you have a specific relationship. This ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations for the release of Personal Health Information (PHI).

  • What is UTMB CareLink?

    UTMB CareLink is a web-based application designed to provide safe and secure access to medical information contained within UTMB Health’s electronic medical records. The system allows physician office practices and other external entities the ability to review health information for patients with whom they have a specific relationship with. This ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations for the release of Protected Health Information (PHI), as well as enhances continuity of patient care.

  • How do I request an account?

    Your CareLink Representative can provide enrollment forms as well as answer any questions you may have; or you can email carelink@utmb.edu and request the enrollment forms to be sent to you. Once the enrollment process is complete, your CareLink Representative will contact you to set up an onsite training. If this is a request for new enrollment, the process may take up to seven business days.

  • How do I access UTMB CareLink?

    After your account has been created, you will receive an email with your user ID and a link to the UTMB CareLink page. You will need to contact the UTMB CareLink Help Desk at (409) 772-5200 to set your password.

  • How do I reset my password?

    You will need to contact the UTMB CareLink Help Desk to reset your password. For any additional support, you can contact your CareLink Representative.

  • How do I update my existing account?

    If you need to update information on your existing account, complete the online form. This process may take up to seven business days. Some changes may require additional documentation be provided to UTMB Health, in which you will be contacted by the UTMB CareLink team to obtain such documentation.

  • What system requirements do I need in order to use UTMB CareLink?

    You must use one of the following Internet browsers to access UTMB CareLink:

    • Apple Safari
    • Google Chrome
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 through 11.0
    • Mozilla Firefox 10 and any later versions

    UTMB CareLink requires a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels. While you can use a dial-up Internet connection to access UTMB CareLink, we recommend that you use a high-speed Internet connection to achieve the best system speed and performance. In addition, you will need Java enabled to display graphs and scanned images in UTMB CareLink.

  • How do I get access to the electronic orders and referrals?

    To place electronic orders and referrals, clinicians with an active UTMB CareLink account must first complete a brief online e-learning course for access to this feature. After reviewing the e-learning information, clinicians must then complete an affirmation of having completed the course. Please contact your UTMB CareLink representative for more information about activating your access to electronic orders and referrals.

  • What is two-factor authentication?

    Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security used to verify the identity of a person accessing their account. Two-factor authentication for your UTMB CareLink account will require you to login with your username and password and then enter a single-use code that will be sent to your email address or generated through an authenticator mobile app.
