The University of Texas Medical Branch is hosting the 3rd Annual Howard and Lillian Becker Perinatal Care Conference today and Thursday on its Galveston Campus, serving as the required annual all-staff training mandated by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission through UTMB’s Regional Women’s Services and Pediatrics (RWSP) grants.
The conference is supported by the Howard and Lillian Becker Distinguished Professorship in Obstetrics and Gynecology, currently held by Dr. Shannon Clark, OB/Gyn and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist at UTMB.

The conference focuses on advancing excellence in women’s health and pediatric care and features breakout sessions tailored to women’s and pediatric providers, clinical support staff, and administrative teams with topics ranging from cervical dysplasia and diabetes in pregnancy to mental health access.
UTMB is honored to welcome Carolyn Nelson-Becker, founder and former senior leader of the RWSP program, and her husband, Keith. Also in attendance will be key speakers including Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Dr. Sayyeda Hasan and Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Behavioral Science Dr. Paymon Mosavi, who are speaking to the entire conference following lunch on both Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
Sessions are being held in multiple locations across campus, including Levin Hall, the Ashbel Smith Building (Old Red), the Moody Medical Library and the School of Health Professions and Nursing.
