UTMB Health recognized among America's Best Cardiac Hospitals 2024 by Newsweek, Statista

The University of Texas Medical Branch has been recognized among America's Best Cardiac Hospitals 2024 by Newsweek and Statista, an honor bestowed on just 175 of 850 hospitals considered for the award nationwide.

"This recognition by Newsweek and Statista is a reflection of the strong efforts and the remarkable knowledge and skills of our cardiovascular specialists in addition to their unwavering commitment to excellence along with our fellows, nurses, technicians, staff and health system partners,” said Dr. Hani Jneid, chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Care Line at UTMB.

“It highlights the dedication and hard work of our cardiovascular health care professionals who strive to provide the highest quality of care to our patients."

The award for America's Best Cardiac Hospitals 2024 is based on the following four comprehensive data sources:

  • A nationwide online survey where health care professionals and hospital managers with specialty knowledge were asked to recommend leading hospitals
  • Hospital quality metrics, including statistics drawing from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the American Hospital Association national surveys.
  • Results from patient experience surveys, focusing on feedback from patients during hospitalization
  • Voluntary, Statista Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS) Implementation Survey was used to determine the status of PROMs implementation, audits, and data reporting.

"Being named among America's Best Cardiac Hospitals 2024 is a tremendous honor,” said Dr. Jochen Reiser, UTMB President and CEO of the UTMB Health System. “It underscores our continuous efforts to advance cardiac care through innovation, research, and patient-centered practices. This distinction not only celebrates UTMB’s commitment to patient care but sets a benchmark for excellence in the field of cardiology.”

The rankings were published recently on Newsweek.
