Patient Services

Patient Services Department

Patient Services is comprised of advocates, interpreters and support staff who support patients and staff in the resolution of patient concerns as well as provide assistance with service-related patient needs.

Patient Advocacy

During their hospital stay, our patients may need to speak with someone who understands hospital procedures and will assist them and their families with non-medical problems or concerns. Our Patient Advocate Specialists are familiar with all services provided by the hospital and will assist in answering questions that may arise during your stay.

Patient Advocate Specialists are available 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday, by dialing (409) 772-4772.

While typically not at off-campus clinic locations, UTMB Patient Advocates are also available to assist patients of UTMB's clinics.

Language Access Services

Effective communication with patients and families is critical to ensuring high quality patient care. UTMB Health is committed to ensuring that individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP), the Deaf, and Hard-of-hearing have meaningful access to services and an equal opportunity to participate in services in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. UTMB strives to meet the unique needs of our patients while appropriately managing available resources.
